A quick confession – I can’t read Arabic – though I have many friends who do, and always check designs with them!
I love Arabic Calligraphy, particularly in the Thuluth style, and have cut a number of pieces in Arabic in different stones.

I cut this lovely calligraphy in some reclaimed limestone (a friend’s old bathroom floor) – the original calligraphy is by Mamoun Sakkal.
And We have already created Man and know what his soul whispers to him, and we are closer to him than his jugular vein.
Surah Al Qaf 50 16.
I cut this quote from the Qur’an in large block of limestone, the original calligraphy is by Hasan Kan’an. This is the first in a series of quotes reflecting people’s beliefs about the way that the divine interpenetrates the physical world.
