Among classicists, it is well known that the most frankly and cheerfully obscene writer in ancient Rome was Catullus. Even among his work, the beginning of Carmen 16 is regarded as the single most obscene line surviving from the ancient world. So rude is it, that it remains difficult to find a frank translation, even on the internet (but they are out there, if you’re curious). I cut this in Slate, using some classic roman letter forms.
