Easter Headstones

Over my Easter holidays from school I was commissioned to cut two headstones in lovely Portland limestone for a family in Sussex. We lived in our campervan on their farm, and I was supervised by my big dog while I cut them. This stone is lovely to work with – although there are some fossils that make it quite interesting – and I was pleased with how they came out.

Sometimes when you cut Portland you can smell the ancient oceans that the rock formed in millions of years ago.
